On this episode of Thursday Night Tailgate we go around the NFL plus we talked post season baseball with former Seahawks & Cowboys DB Ken Hamlin, former Royals & Cardinals Closer Mark Littell, former Chargers, Vikings & Giants DB Vencie Glenn, and Bears Hall of Fame LB Mike Singletary. Plus, former Patriots Pro Bowl RB Tony Collins joined us to go through our 5 Star Picks of the Week for Week 5 in the NFL.
Ken Hamlin - Ken shared his thoughts on his alma mater, the University of Arkansas and their games coming up against South Carolina, Alabama and Auburn. He also gave us his thoughts on two of his former teams, the Seahawks and Cowboys and who he'll be rooting for when they play each other on Christmas Eve. We also looked back at his playing days and his 2 interception day against Eli Manning and the Giants.
Tony Collins - We went through our 5 Star Picks of the Week with Tony and got his thoughts on his former team, the New England Patriots, and their (2-2) start.
Mark Littell - Mark talked about his upcoming trip to Cuba where he'll be taking some guys from the Independent League down to play in a tournament against players from the Cuban League. We also shared memories of playing in the American League Championship series against the Yankees in 1976 & '77, plus facing the '79 Pirates and '80 Phillies when he was with St. Louis.
Vencie Glenn - Vencie gave us his perspective on what's going on with the National Athem protests and politics getting into football. As a former Charger and a guy who still resides in San Diego, he shared what it's like for San Diego fans going through their first season without football since 1961.
Mike Singletary - Mike talked about the work he's doing with a company creating a device to help immediately diagnose the severity of a concussion. He told us that Baylor was the only Division 1 college to offer him a scholarship to play LB. He shared the story about what it was like the very first time Mike Ditka met with the team after he took over as Head Coach, what it was like playing with Walter Payton, Walter asking him to come read the Bible to him every day after Walter was diagnosed with Cancer, and how losing the NFC Championship game in 1984 fueled them to be even better in 1985.

Greg recently spent time conducting a kicking camp at the University of Alabama with Nick Saban who was a defensive coach when Greg was playing for Michigan State. He shared stories about his relationship with Saban then and now. He also talked about playing for George Perles at Michigan State, what it was like being drafted in the 3rd round and why as a Punter he never considered himself an actual football player.

Chad talked about his upcoming induction into the University of Colorado Athletics Hall of Fame. He shared his thoughts on Colorado's chances this year in the PAC-12 South. Chad also talked about his time playing for the Steelers and what he learned from Kevin Greene, plus he shared the infamous sushi story when he was in the process of signing his free agent deal with Seattle.

Vern has set the record twice for reaching the summits of the tallest mountains on each of the 7 continents, He achieved the current record at age 57. He has climbed each of those peaks at least 10 times, including Mount Everest, Kimimanjaro and Denali. Mount Denali is in his adopted home state of Alaska and he's climbed that now 57 times. Vern shared stories from his climb up Mount Everest and what it's like dealing with the lack of oxygen as you as you make your way to the peak. He also talked about why he climbs with an aluminum ladder strapped to his waist and what it's like climbing through the clouds.

Gus came back and shared more stories from his playing career. He talked about the speed of the game and when it slowed down for him. He also talked about playing against Deion Sanders and what he did that frustrated Deion. He also talked about the 3 attempts he made to try to get Pittsburgh to sign him plus and his insights on the Redskins season. Gus is now the Vice President of Brain Initiatives for a company called RC21X. They've developed a brain game to help measure and improve memory and brain function.
